- The Prize: The winner receives $600 in Pierz Bucks. Pierz Bucks are paper certificates with different values to be spent at participating businesses in Pierz. The prize usually comes in a stack of $20 value pink certificates.
- Oktoberfest Button Needed: In order to claim your prize when you find the medallion, you need an Oktoberfest button. There are 1000 Oktoberfest buttons made available for purchase at local Pierz businesses.
- Businesses selling buttons include Hartman’s Hardware Hank, Lloyds Liquor, Unity Bank, Pierz Foods, Reds Auto, Farmers and Merchants State Bank, Vets SuperStop (Speedway on main street), Schomer Insurance, and NAPA.
- The cost of the buttons is $5 each or 3 for $13.
- Each button has a number on the back written with a sharpie and during the week of medallion hunting, many local businesses have drawings, and every button number will be posted in area business for prizes. You are also registered for prizes at the Oktoberfest Celebration on August 25th.
- Claiming your prize: If you find the medallion, run over to Hartman’s Hardware Hank on the north end of Pierz and tell them! They will award you with the Pierz Bucks, take your picture and congratulate you on a job well done! If it is after Hartman’s hours, call 320-630-3887. This person will tell you your next steps.
- Previous Winners: So sorry, but if you have won the medallion hunt in years past, you may no longer claim the prize.
