Pierz Rock, Roll & Stroll

The Pierz Rock, Roll, & Stroll is a car show that overtakes main street of the quaint little town of Pierz the first Thursday of each month in summer beginning in June and going through September. Locals look forward to it, and passerbyer’s look very carefully as they drift through town. The streets comes alive beginning around 4 or 5pm and not ending until close to 7 or 8 depending on the Minnesota weather, which is very unpredictable.

You can expect to find not only your neighbors, family and friends roaming the street, but also a fair amount of entertainment. For instance, there’s the ‘one man band’ who always parks his old truck near the bank, sets up in the bed of it and plays awesome music for all to hear as they dig for nickels and claim their free Root Beer at the bank corner. Across the street from the bank at Thrifty White parking lot is the coffee cart and a mobile boutique. Across from them is a showpiece double decker trailer with men drinking beer from the top deck. Always interesting.

On the south end of main, people stop in Red’s Auto for ice cream, eat a rack of ribs from the grocery store, burgers near the liquor store, and most kids favorite is the simple spin-to-win wheel near the insurance agency. The local pubs offer drink specials and usually allow you to take it ‘to go’. The parents are happy, the kids are happy, the cars are pretty and if your lucky there is will music playing on one end or the other of town. If Mother Nature cooperates, it’s a fun event.

Vote to win. As will every event there is a contest (and t-shirts for purchase). Stopping by the official car show tent/trailer gives you access to the Poker Walk Contest. You must be 18 years or older to purchase cards, participate, and win prizes. How to play: Participants visit the designated local participating businesses listed on the event’s poker scorecard to draw a card. Winning hands: The individual with the best poker hand wins first place (valued around $75), second place receives a secondary prize (valued around $50), and remaining non-winning entries are put into a random fallback drawing (valued around $25 each). Grand drawings: Final event drawings and major awards conclude on the final night of the season Bootleggers Bar.

The car show event has been a nice addition to Pierz, bringing people into town to spend their dollar, bringing people together, neighbors, friends and family, and it gives everyone something to look froward to. Locals are happy that the Pierz Commercial Club created this event.
